Why should you Join a Guild?
Do you want to team up with other dedicated players to conquer the toughest challenges in the game? Totally immerse yourself in the Star Wars™ galaxy with other role-players? Coordinate tactics with trusted teammates in PvP? Regardless of your play-style in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, being part of a guild can help you achieve your goals as well as meet new people and socialize with friends.
In The Old Republic, you’ll explore the galaxy alongside other players, often working together to overcome incredible challenges. Joining a guild will help you find a network of players whose interests complement your own. It will help you stay in touch with friends you know from outside the game and some you may meet during your adventures. Although joining a guild is not essential to in-game progression, joining a guild can enhance your overall gameplay experience in many ways, including:
Guild members generally join together to tackle group quests, Flashpoints, and raids. It helps to know your teammates in those big battles that require complex tactics.
Guild chat gives you and your friends a private channel for communication, creating a lively in-game atmosphere as you play.
Being in a guild gives you access to a community of friends in game who can quickly answer your questions and help you make decisions as your character develops.
By working together, guildmates can become powerful teams in player versus player combat.
Guildmates can coordinate to cover different crew skills, allowing guilds to maximize their knowledge and production.

Other Questions about Guild
- Why create guilds before the game launches?
Creating guilds before the game launches offers The Old Republic community the opportunity to reserve guild names and establish or join a group with similar in-game goals pre-launch so you are organized and ready to play when Early Game Access begins!
- What is the Pre-Launch Guild Program and why are there multiple phases?
The Pre-Launch Guild Program allows players to create guilds pre-launch. Players can reserve their desired guild name, recruit other players to join their guild, and socialize with each other on private message boards before the game is launched.
Launching the program in phases allows players to organize their guilds and begin to decide guild strategies prior to the launch of the game. Each of the phases will introduce new options and features for guilds. More detailed information on each phase can be found below.
- If I don’t join or create a guild through this program, will I still be able to join or create a guild in the game?
Yes! When the game launches, you will be able to join and create guilds within the game.
- Can I leave a guild?
Yes. If you wish to leave your guild, simply visit your guild’s homepage and click “Withdraw from this guild.” You are then free to apply to and join another guild.
- If I join a guild, will all my characters be automatically placed in that guild?
No. The first time you log in to the server your guild has been placed on with a character, that character will be asked if they would like to join that guild. If that character accepts and joins the guild, no further characters you create on that server with your account will be prompted. Your guild leader or officers will be able to invite additional characters from your account to the guild later.
- How many players can be in a guild?
A guild in Star Wars: The Old Republic can have 500 individual characters enlisted at a time. Before the game launches, each website account that joins your guild occupies one of these slots. Remember – if you expect to allow multiple characters from one account (alts) into your guild when the game launches, you should monitor your pre-launch guild’s members accordingly!
- How many guilds can I apply to and join?
You can join one guild per each Star Wars: The Old Republic website account. You can only apply to one guild at a time with your account, but you may change your current application to another guild or leave your current guild at any time and apply to another. This limit only applies to the Pre-Launch Guild Program. In the live game, you will be able to join multiple guilds. Any of the characters you create can join other guilds.
